urethra:

1. The tube that carries urine, and semen in males, from the bladder through the penis and vagina to the outside of the body. SEE ALSO: urethral-meatus .

2. The opening on the male and female genitalia where urine comes out . On males it is located on the glans-penis ; on females, it is located above the opening of the vagina .
