Discrimination and prejudice on the basis of gender ; especially discrimination against women. Sexism is neutral and can be applied equally to females and males; androcentrism means male-oriented , -centered, -exclusiveness and, by extension, male chauvinism; gynocentrism means female-oriented , -centered, -exclusiveness. Sexual terminology is predominantly androcentric, though not always clearly phallocentric or patriarchal.
