civet:

Obsolete British term for:

1. The female genitals . See vagina for synonyms.

2. A male homosexual .

Quote: William Cowper (1731-1800). Conversation : ' I cannot talk with civet in the room / A fine puss-gentleman that's all perfume .'

In (1) usage was based on the cat-like animal of the same name (also named civet cat); in (2) usage referred to the yellowish, musky fluid secreted by this animal
