Early-20 ^th century euphemism for falsies , a pair of pads worn inside a brassiere to give the impression of larger breasts. This term is used by Amanda Wingfield (Joanne Woodward) when stuffing her daughter Laura's (Karen Allen) bosom with ' gay-deceivers ' to set a trap for the ' gentleman caller ' coming to supper in The Glass Menagerie (1987).
