1. In prostitution , a shabby, drab or squalid apartment or hotel room rented for sexual purpose. Synonym: crib .

2. In sadomasochism, a large box or small-room , possibly with bars, used in prisoner and animal-training scenes for the confinement of a submissive. Cages are constructed to resemble prison cells, dog pounds, chicken coops , or coffins depending on the atmosphere to be created and the fantasy play to be enacted.
