In 1967, J.E. Schmidt ( Lecher's Lexicon ) (1967) defined this word as sexual-intercourse : ' not accompanied by or the result of sexual-desire . The condition is common in women whose passive attitude in the act of intercourse does not make desire mandatory '.In 1999, Peter Novobatzky and Ammon Shea ( Depraved English ) simplified that definition to: ' Sex without passion .' The word is not listed in the OED; its closest relative is acock: ' In cocked fashion; defiantly ' and they quote Jerrold (1846): ' A man who, on his outsart in life , sets his hat acock at matrimony ... '.
